MUSIC & TRAVEL! my experience …
I wanted to know what it would be like to travel & songwrite, SOOOO……at the end of 2021, I sold almost everything & packed my life into 1 suitcase & 1 hiking-size backpack & headed South East Asia.
While I was away, I received some lovely msgs from fellow artists, producers & songwriters telling me that they were curiously following my journey, deep down hoping to do the same thing one day.
Soooo, those who may be thinking about bundling their life into a travel/ writing/recording combo…..
I have some notes/tips based on my personal experience:
1.
Even if you are someone who likes to be alone, it gets lonely quickly!
So make an effort to go out, meet locals, other travelers etc. bc this is where the magical writing juices are found.
Not alone in your room !
………
In No Particular Order…
“It’s not professional.”
“It will ruin your reputation as an Energetic Systems Realignment Practitioner.”
“You’ll come across as ‘unwell.’”
That’s what I was told when I first shared a version of this post on FB a few years ago.
But I didn’t take it down.
And the response was wild —
in the most life-affirming, connective, “oh my God, I’m not alone” kind of way.
Because here’s the thing:
If sharing a real part of my experience — with the intention that it may help or resonate with even one person going through something similar — scares someone away, then that’s okay. It simply means we’re not meant to be in each other’s orbit right now.
I work with people who are neurodivergent, on the spectrum, and navigating mental health challenges.
This is my community. My heart. My people.
And I have my own neurospicy flavour happening too.
I’m not ashamed of that. If anything, it’s part of what makes me effective at what I do….
